Sustainability has become one of the biggest buzz words in the media and commerce.  

*sustainable* means it is able to carry on long term and be self sufficient . What has been uncovered recently is that if a business brings a product to market, the whole process or supply chain has to be sustainable throughout the whole process from ideation, production to marketing or it is not sustainable. We are facing a climate and environmental emergency and if the beginning or parts of the supply chain are not sustainable, collapse is inevitable. And it’s more than just plastic usage. 

We were commissioned to research the world of sustainability in eCommerce by one of our clients who wanted to make sure they were educated to make the right decisions for their company, which generated intel on leaders in the space (hello Patagonia), perpetrators (tut tut Urban Outfitters), terminology, greenwashing, certifications, ratings, hashtags (#whomademyClothes is on 800k uses), influencers (we love @chelsychristina), activists, figureheads and much more. 

To summarise, if your company strategy doesn’t have sustainability at the front of mind when it comes to your values and strategy, you may find it hard to progress in the years to come, even if you’re not in the sustainable industry.
